On December 24th at approximately 1900 hours, Ulster Hose was dispatched for a two car personal injury automobile accident (PIAA) on Route 209. Upon response, Cars 61 and 61-A were alerted that there was entrapment in both vehicles involved, with one patient unconscious. A MedEvac was requested for standby. Engine One’s crew arrived on scene and began extricating the patient in one of the vehicles, and Rescue Three’s crew arrived shortly after and began extrication on the other vehicle. The MedEvac had been requested to be launched, and Engine Four’s crew established a landing zone. Route 209 was closed while members operated on scene. UHFD was assisted by Ulster Police, New York State Police and Empress EMS. Glasco Fire Department stood-by at Ulster Hose HQ with a full crew for coverage of the district.
