Fatal Two-Car Accident

On Saturday, March 9th at approximately 1555 hours, Ulster Hose was dispatched for a two-car accident in the area of the rock cut on Route 209. While en route, units were updated regarding the accident, including that it was a reported T-Bone and that one car was off the road on its side. Car 5 arrived to find multiple occupants entrapped. Engine 1’s crew assisted with the occupant of one vehicle, while Rescue 3’s crew assisted with occupants in the other vehicle. Rescue 2’s crew provided support to both groups. At 1607, an additional dispatch was requested for all available manpower to assemble and standby. Units remained on scene to assist law enforcement. UHFD was back in service around 1830 hours.

Sadly, one of the occupants passed away, and UHFD extends its sympathies to the family.

We would like to thank the Glasco Fire Department for standing-by at our headquarters with a crew; the Ulster Police Department, Ulster County Sheriff’s Office, and New York State Police for assistance with traffic control at the scene; and the New York State Department of Transportation for assisting with road closures afterward.
