On Saturday, November 2nd at approximately 1426 hours, UHFD was dispatched for a reported house fire at 138 Forest Hill Drive. While units were responding, 911 updated all that a caller reported fire on the second floor and that all occupants were out of the structure. Car 2 arrived at 1433, and immediately upgraded the assignment to a 3rd alarm. Arriving conditions were heavy fire throughout a two and a half story, 50×65 wood frame residential structure. Upon arrival of the first due engine and ladder, 3 handlines were put to work as members made an aggressive interior attack, extinguishing most of the fire within 25 minutes of the initial call. Extensive overhaul was required due to the fire load and size of the residence.
Mutual aid departments assisted with operations and tanker relays due to it being a non-hydrant area of the UHFD district. Overhaul was completed at 1708, and units cleared the scene at 1809. No injuries were reported by occupant or first responder. The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Ulster County Fire Investigation Unit.
We thank our mutual aid departments: Hurley, Spring Lake, Glasco, Centerville-Cedar Grove, Ruby, Port Ewen and Rhinebeck.
