First Due Fire in Glenerie Area

On Thursday, June 12th at approximately 1949 hours, Ulster Hose was dispatched for a reported house fire at 42 South Drive, in the Glenerie area of the district (near Station 2). Truck 1 was out on a detail at Texas Roadhouse and took up immediately to respond. Other members were also out for a previous EMS run and had just returned from a fire alarm, so Ladder 2 and Engine 4 were quickly out the door. In the area of Central Hudson on US-9W, Truck 1 communicated seeing a header of smoke from their location.

Car 1 and Car 2 were also on the road and requested a second alarm. This brought the Glasco Fire Department to the scene with their FASTeam, and Centerville-Cedar Grove to standby at Ulster Hose HQ. At this time, Engine 3 responded from the north station and secured a hydrant and Engine 2 and Rescue 3 made their way up from HQ with manpower.

Upon arrival, members faced heavy fire from the rear of the residence and proceeded with two handlines in operation, knocking down the seat of the fire very rapidly and conducting primary and secondary searches. Members and apparatus were back in service by 2211 hours.

Empress Ambulance had a unit on standby at the scene, and the Ulster County Fire Investigation Unit was requested and responded. Members were also assisted by the Ulster Police Department and Central Hudson.
