First Due House Fire

On Tuesday, February 10th at approximately 1945 hours, Ulster Hose was dispatched for a reported house on fire. While responding, Car 1 was updated that the caller reports the side of the house on fire. While units began responding, Ulster Police reported a well involved house fire. Utilizing this information, Car 1 requested a working fire dispatch, bringing additional manpower, mutual aid and utilities.

On arrival, Car 1 had a 25 x 35 single story structure with heavy smoke throughout and fire coming from the number four side. Engine 3 was the first arriving unit, with Engine 4 arriving shortly thereafter. Engine 4 laid a supply line in from the hydrant. Two handlines were stretched and an immediate fire attack began.

Truck 1, Engine 2 and Rescue 3 arrived and sent their manpower over to the scene to assist with handline progression, searches, opening up the structure and overhaul. Cars 2, 3 and 4 were also on scene.

The fire was quickly brought under control, searches were negative and the scene was turned over to Ulster PD, Ulster County Office of Emergency Management/Fire Investigation Unit, and the Town of Ulster Building Department. UHFD was assisted at the scene by Glasco FASTeam, Hurley Fire Department, Empress Ambulance and City of Kingston Medic, with standby coverage provided by the Centerville-Cedar Grove Fire Department.
