On July 25th at approximately 1523 hours, Ulster Hose was dispatched with their dive team and swift water rescue team to Greene County to assist with the rescue of individuals who had become stranded due to heavy rains and rising creek waters. It was reported to Ulster Hose Car 2 and unit 61-13 (Rescue 3) that nine people were stuck in the Kaaterskill Creek below Fawn’s Leap Falls and another five people were stuck in the creek above Fawn’s Leap Falls in the town of Hunter. On scene, they joined the Greene County Sheriff’s Dive Team, Twin Cloves Technical Rescue Team, Tannersville Fire Department, Haines Falls Fire Department, Palenville Fire Department, Greene County Paramedics, New York State Police Underwater Recovery Team, New York State Forest Rangers, the Ulster County Sheriff’s Office In-Water Rescue Team, and the rope rescue teams from the City of Kingston and Centerville-Cedar Grove Fire Departments. All 14 individuals were rescued and evaluated by EMS at the scene.
